Oral Appliance Therapy
Experts recommend that Oral Appliance Therapy should be provided by an appropriately qualified dentist using a custom, adjustable appliance.

What is Oral Appliance Therapy?
Oral Appliances hold your lower jaw in a precise forward position which supports the soft tissues in the back of your throat so they are no longer able to collapse. This prevents the obstruction of your airway and stops nighttime choking and suffocating episodes.
Thanks to advances in technology, our appliances are thin (about 1mm), accurate, comfortable and very strong. They do not lock your upper and lower jaw together and allow for speaking, sipping water and free movement.
The appliances are precision tailored to your unique anatomy, and fully adjustable so we can work with you to find the most effective position to manage your snoring and sleep apnoea.
-
Will it work for me?
Most people are great candidates for an oral appliance. The only way to tell for sure is to arrange a free screening at our clinic or online.
Sleep Matters also offer a Satisfaction Guarantee.
This means you can trial your custom-made, definitive oral appliance to assess its comfort and management of your snoring and sleep apnoea.
If, after 3 months, you are not satisfied with the results, just return the appliance and get a refund of 80% of your out of pocket costs of the treatment fee.

Not all appliances are equal
Due to being ‘one size fits all’, over the counter or ‘boil and bite’ devices are large and bulky. They tend to fit poorly and fall off the teeth rather than staying in place during sleep. They often have no, or a very limited way of adjustment, so are unable to cater to the optimal position of the lower jaw.
Custom-made Oral Appliances offer a personalised and precise solution. They are designed, fabricated and adjusted under the supervision of a qualified dentist with expertise in Dental Sleep Medicine.
In addition, as part of our commitment to your health, Sleep Matters arranges regular follow-ups to allow for adjustments and optimisation, ensuring a successful long term outcome.

Proven CPAP Alternative
Many people diagnosed with sleep apnoea are not able to use the CPAP machine. Oral appliances are the only proven alternative, yet far more comfortable.
